Teaching Artist, Narrative Strategist, & Civic Storytelling Consultant
Angela's work lives at the intersection of story, image, and public meaning. She helps schools, cultural institutions, and community organizations create storytelling experiences that honor youth voice, illuminate community memory, and cultivate the imaginative power needed to shape a more just world. With more than thirteen years of experience in strategic communications and multimedia storytelling — and deep expertise as an award‑winning high school English & Journalism teacher — she blends narrative strategy with artistic practice to help participants craft stories that resonate both personally and publicly.
Her relationship to art began in a moment of wonder: standing before a Salvador Dalí painting, studying art and architecture across Europe. That encounter at 14 years of age opened a lifelong devotion to visual metaphor, materiality, and the ways artists bend reality to reveal truth. This early spark grew into a sustained love of art history and contemporary art, shaping the way she teaches, designs programs, and guides communities through storytelling.
In her classrooms and workshops, Angela invites students into a global conversation. In her workshops, programs, and classes, students explore identity, power, memory, and civic imagination, learning how artists use form to speak to the world. Her learning spaces are interdisciplinary studios where literature, photography, sculpture, film, and performance meet, allowing young people to see themselves as creators within a vast artistic lineage.
Her students’ work carries this depth into the public sphere. Under her guidance, youth have produced narratives and media projects featured in The Washington Post, NPR, Bethesda Magazine, and exhibited at major universities — work that demonstrates both artistic excellence and the cultural grounding of her pedagogy.
Named a 2025 Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars, Angela brings creative rigor, relational warmth, and strategic clarity to every partnership. Whether she is designing a digital storytelling workshop, building a youth media fellowship, or consulting on narrative strategy for a community organization, she creates spaces where participants feel seen, skillful, and capable of producing work that matters.
